expectations vs debt

I've been planning to go to a UC and I meet the requirements, but I can't afford it. I want to attend a community college first but I feel like all my effort up until this point would be a waste if I don't at least apply to a UC but I don't want to feel obligated to attend if I get accepted or to waste money on the application fee if I don't. Only  top of this, my dad has been pressuring me to attend a university. What should I do?

  1. Don’t follow what your parents want you to do, but instead do whatever you want to do and what is beneficial more to your own future!

  2. Attending a UC, is a dream that many of us what to fulfill, but sadly it is very costly. If it is your desire to attend a UC, apply! It is not the end of the world and there are other ways to support your schooling years at a UC such as financial aid and scholarships. Take those opportunities and your dreams of going to a UC will be a step closer. Not all UC's are THAT costly, putting in time for research of different UC's give more information about tuitions. UC Riverside is considered one of the most affordable UC's in the state. If this isn't the case, UC's are not the only school out there. California State Universities and even community colleges are a great option. In my opinion, follow your intuition and what you want to do. It is safe to say that it is not the end of the world, and no matter what you do, if it may end in right or wrong, you can always learn from it and keep going. Best of luck to you Alyssa! :)
