I want to major in Nursing but the college I want to go to is still up for debate. It kind of all depends on what school accepts me into the nursing program, so if a community college program accepts me I will go to that community college to get my associates. But I honestly dont know what to do, should I apply to both a university and community and see which one accepts me? If I go straight to a university I'm thinking it would be better because I could just get my bachelors right away instead of transferring and having to work super hard at a CC to be eligible to transfer. But theres also this thought in the back of my mind that if I go to a community and get my associates I could start working and then go back to school to get my bachelors with knowledge and experience. Does anyone have any tips on what I should do?

Im having the same dilemma with what college I should go to and if I should just go to CC and transfer. I think you should just apply to the college/university that you want to go to and try your luck into getting in. If you arent accepted I dont think community would be a bad route to take but I was wondering as well if I would be wasting my time with going there and wasting money. Considering the fact that you said you may want to get your associates at a CC and start working and going back to school later for a bachelors or masters, I think thats a good idea to have those years of experience. It also depends on how long you want to take your time with this. If you want to get it over with as fast as you can or take your time with college and work. I personally think that the going to a CC, getting a job, then coming back is a good idea if the initial college/university that you want doesnt accept you.
ReplyDeleteBasically you are in the same position as me right now , but I think you should go to a community college if you want to start working as a registered nurse early than waiting four years to start working as a nurse. Besides if you were to start at a community college you can always go back and finish off your two yeas in at a cal sate and be able to pay off classes at a four since they may be expensive
ReplyDeleteI also want to major in nursing too, and this is a question that I'm still on the fence about myself. I think the best option undoubtedly is to apply to both university and community college because it leaves you with more options to work with once your applications are processed. I'm planning on going to CSULB or at least transferring in, but many people have told me that they have a low acceptance rate for transfers so that is something you should research about if you plan on going to community college first.
